What to Expect During a Roof Replacement

A full roof replacement can sound disruptive, but most residential jobs are completed in two to four days once materials are on site, and knowing the day-by-day flow helps homeowners plan around the noise and activity.

Here’s what a typical Stormcrest replacement looks like from the crew’s arrival to the final walkthrough, so there are no surprises on installation day.

Most of our customers are surprised how fast the process actually moves once the crew is on the roof — the planning beforehand is what makes that speed possible.

Day-by-Day: Tear-Off to Cleanup

Day one starts with protecting landscaping and driveways, then tearing off the old roofing down to the deck and inspecting the sheathing for any rot or soft spots that need replacing before new material goes down.

Underlayment, ice and water shield, and flashing go on next, followed by the new shingles or panels, ridge venting, and a full magnetic sweep of the yard to catch stray nails before the crew leaves each day.

We do a final walkthrough with every homeowner before we consider the job complete, covering warranty paperwork and answering any last questions about the new roof.

Our replacement stuck to the exact day-by-day timeline described here, tear-off on day one, dried in by day two. No surprises.

Appreciated knowing what to expect before the crew showed up. Made it a lot less stressful having the schedule mapped out in advance.

Cleanup was as thorough as promised, ran the magnetic nail sweep across the whole yard before they left. Nothing left behind.
